The Region

Maison Marmalade offers the perfect rural escape allowing you to experience a true insight into French life. Within only a few miles of the house there are gorgeous charming Bastide villages steeped in history, that still remain undiscovered and tranquil.

Cestayrol’s lies within the heart of the golden triangle, which comprises of three towns of Albi (a World Heritage Site) with its famous cathedral and delightful streets of shops, the medieval city of Cordes sur Ciel and the market town of Gaillac, famous for the wines that bear its name. A dream location for those wine connoisseurs, as the Tarn region is said to of been producing wine since Roman times, as far back as the 1st century AD, with its proximity to the Tarn river allowing them to transport wine throughout the empire with ease.

There are of course plenty of wonderful food markets almost daily in many of the surrounding villages and towns. Kayaking is a must in the town of St Antonin Noble Val and Cap-decouvert is a leisure facility located in an old mine that features a both a lake and beach, as well as skate park and many other exciting activities including paint-balling & zip lining, making it impossible for kids to not be thoroughly entertained. There are also a number of dry ski slopes, biking opportunities and plenty of other activities for all the family to indulge in.
